Bob the northern cardinal bird knitting kit

Say hello to Bob the cardinal, a cuddly bright red bird who can't wait to brighten up your day!

Each bird knitting kit is carefully handmade and packed by me, and will contain all the yarn and notions that you need to knit Bob the cardinal – No need to order all the different yarns and bits and pieces – you can sit back, relax, and start knitting straight away. It's all there for you!

If you'd like to add needles to your kit, a pair of high quality 25cm long 4mm Pony aluminium knitting needles are £2, and a pack of 2 Pony darning needles are £1. You'll also need a crochet hook to attach Bob's crest to his head. I don't sell these, but you can use any hook which is smaller than 4mm.

Is Bob suitable for beginners?

Yes. He is simply knitted flat on a pair of 4mm (UK 8/ US 6) knitting needles, making him an excellent project for a beginner who knows the basics of knitting: no need to knit in the round. 

Basic knitting skills that you’ll need to know:

Knit stitch, purl stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). You'll also need to change colour mid-row using intarsia. Head on over to my how to knit tutorials if you need any advice!

Bob's crest is attached to his head using a crochet hook, but you don't need to know crochet to do this, you are simply pulling the yarn through the knitted fabric using the hook.

All kit and parcel packaging is plastic-free, and recyclable.

The gift box measures 28cm x 19cm x 8cm.

Bob the cardinal is 18cm long.

Please note that because Bob has a pipe cleaner in his tail, he isn't suitable for children.
